have a planning level of 160,000 places in three categories: Skill, Family and
Special Eligibility.

Australia State and Territory
nomination breakdown for 2021-22
When Australia announces its
Migration Program planning levels every year, Australian States and Territories
are allotted nominations.
Australian State and Territory
governments can use these allocations to nominate skilled migrants who can move
to Australia and boost the local workforce of the nominating State or
Territory.
Under its 2021-22 Migration Program
settings, Australian States and Territories were able to nominate skilled
migrants in three visa categories: Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190), Skilled
Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491), and the Business Innovation and
Investment Program (BIIP).

Canadian Immigration
Canada eases access rules for
temporary foreign workers
Canada has introduced measures to
make it easier for Canadian employers to hire temporary foreign workers.
The Canadian government introduced
the new measures to address labour shortages, with the country facing a low
unemployment rate and high job availabilities at the same time.
According to a media release, the new
measures will help Canada build its workforce by allowing Canadian employers to
hire skilled migrants under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) in
situations where no Canadians are available to do the work.

New Zealand Immigration
NZ to gain 60,000 more residents
than government forecast
New Zealand is set to gain thousands
more migrant residents than originally forecast under the government’s
“fast-track†residency visa.
In September 2021, New Zealand’s
Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi announced the Residency visa – a fast-track
pathway to residency for migrants who were already in New Zealand on temporary
work visas last year.
Although 165,000 migrants were
expected to be granted New Zealand Residency via this pathway, the actual number
of Residency visas granted could exceed the forecast by an additional 60,000
places.

Zealand’s Residency visa estimate being potentially exceeded by 60,000 places!
Famous
Canadians – Tommy Douglas!
Canada is home to some of the most
famous and influential people the world has seen. However, when a
viewer-supported survey singles out one person as “The Greatest Canadianâ€, it
becomes clear who Canadians consider to be their greatest of all time. The man
in question – the Father of Medicare, Tommy Douglas!
Born in 1904, Tommy Douglas wanted to
help people from his youth. He believed people should have a good quality of
life regardless of their financial status, and decided to enter politics to
help people.
After entering politics, he helped
people understand socialism. His bold ideas and public speaking ability helped
him connect with voters, and he became the Premier of Saskatchewan in 1944. He
kept his promise of making life better for everyone in Saskatchewan by bringing
in power for heat and lights in the province. He also passed laws that ensured
workers got at least two weeks of paid vacation and said people of all races
and genders were equal.
In 1959, Tommy Douglas introduced
free healthcare for everyone in Saskatchewan. Before long, Canadians across the
country wanted the same healthcare rights, and Tommy was elected into the
federal government in 1961. Many of his ideas, such as healthcare, minimum wage
and money for seniors, were implemented throughout Canada.
In 2004, Canadians across the country
voted Tommy Douglas as “The Greatest Canadian†for a television program and
immortalised him as the most outstanding Canadian of all time.

govt urged to protect women in temporary work programs
An advocacy group for Mexican women
has urged the U.S. government to protect women in temporary work programs from
discrimination and sexual harassment.
The advocacy group claimed that women
in certain agricultural jobs are often excluded from employment opportunities,
while those who are employed have to face harassment at work.
The Center for Migrant Rights said
although the U.S. and Mexican governments met and addressed a petition filed on
this matter last year, the efforts did not go very far.
