Australian Immigration

Skilled migration rules relaxed for Northern Territory

Australia has relaxed its skilled migration rules for the Northern Territory (NT) to address skilled worker shortages in the region.

The relaxed rules will allow employers to fill critical skills shortages in the NT, with the region suffering from an inadequately skilled local workforce.

The NT’s Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) will also be updated to increase the number of skilled migrants who can travel to and work in the region.

AU urged to reform temporary skilled migration program

Australia should redesign its temporary skilled migration program to lift the living standards of the Australian population.

According to a new Grattan Institute report, the current migration program is unpopular with the Australian public, hinders potential benefits of temporary skilled migration, and allows immoral employers to exploit workers.

The report also suggests Australia should introduce a new temporary skilled visa that will lift Australians’ living standards, boost the budget, attract global talent and reduce exploitation of workers.

Famous Australians – Sir Donald Bradman!

Being a cricketing nation, Australia has produced numerous famous cricketers. From the legendary spin wizard Shane Warne to one of the country’s greatest captains Steve Waugh – Australia has had unmatched contributions to cricket. However, standing head and shoulders above everyone else is Sir Donald Bradman – the greatest Australian cricketer of all time!

Born on August 27, 1908, Sir Donald Bradman had an unconventional practice routine during his childhood. In his old family home, he used to toss a golf ball against a corrugated tank stand and hit it back as it came speeding towards him. This routine helped him hone his reflexes and develop into a cricketing prodigy from the school level.

After scoring his first century at the age of twelve, the Don kept making a name for himself by scoring double and triple centuries for fun. His reputation spread quickly and led to his First-class debut, before he was called up to the national team, where he quickly caused a stir in the international cricketing scene with his impeccable batting displays. Soon after his debut, he had made a name for himself as someone who struck fear into the hearts of opposition bowlers and got the crowd on their feet whenever he entered the field.

Throughout his legendary career, the Don set and broke a plethora of records. However, his test batting average of 99.94 stands above all else, and remains unmatched to this day.

Biden administration to protect Afghans from deportation

The Biden administration will protect Afghans in the United States from being deported back to Afghanistan amidst the country’s uncertain future under Taliban rule.

The US Department of Homeland Security announced it has designated Afghanistan for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months due to the country’s ongoing humanitarian crisis.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the TPS would protect Afghan nationals already in the US from having to return to unsafe conditions in their war-torn homeland.
