Parliamentary committee urges AU to ease PR pathway for skilled migrants
A Parliamentary committee has urged the Australian government to ease pathways to permanent residency for skilled migrants.
Following a parliamentary inquiry into Australia’s skilled migration program, the inquiring committee recommended the Australian government smoothen PR pathways for temporary visa holders in Australia.
The committee suggested that all employer nominated visas for Australian skilled migration should provide pathways to PR, Australian employers should be able to nominate their migrant workers for employer nominated visas, skilled migration to regional Australia should be prioritised, and the minimum wage for migrant workers in non-regional areas should be increased.

Austria insists on deporting fleeing Afghans back to Afghanistan
Austria has insisted on deporting Afghan immigrants fleeing from the Taliban back to Afghanistan.
The European country also suggested establishing ‘deportation centres’ in nearby countries to host Afghans hoping to escape the country following the Taliban’s capture of Kabul.
