Australian Immigration
Skilled migration to Australia to benefit from US reluctance
Over the last four years, the Trump administration oversaw one
of the tightest restrictions on the American immigration policy that the world
has ever seen.
Such was the nature of the immigration policy reform that the US
population growth fell to its lowest in a century – that too before
international travel was disrupted by the outbreak of the coronavirus.
As a result, US companies were unable to hire global talent, and
lost US$100 billion in the
process.
Amidst all the uncertainty surrounding skilled migration to the
USA, it is Australia who has the potential to topple the US as the leading
migration destination in the world.

21 popular occupations for permanent Australian migration
The Australian government has released a new Federal Budget for
2020-21, with a strong focus on attracting the most skilled and qualified
migrants from around the world.
Under the new budget, several engineering and tech occupations
have come to the fore as concrete immigration pathways to Australia under the
Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189), which is a permanent skilled migration
visa to Australia.
The occupations include Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers,
ICT Business Analysts, ICT Security Specialists and Software Engineers among
others, and all these occupations are eligible for permanent skilled migration
to Australia.

Ontario’s PNP reform abates business migration to Canada
Recent reforms in the Entrepreneur Stream of the Ontario
Immigrant Provincial Nominee Program (OI PNP) has lowered eligibility
requirements to encourage more entrepreneurs to apply for Canadian business
migration.
Eligibility requirements for the Entrepreneur Stream are now
subject to the area in Ontario where entrepreneur candidates are applying for.
Under the reform, the required net worth for the proposed
business within the Greater Toronto Area has been lowered to $800,000 from $1.5
million, with the required investment also being lessened to $600,000 from $1
million.
Eligibility requirements for businesses outside the Greater
Toronto Area have also been curtailed, as has the qualifying business
experience requirement.

Exploring Canada’s lofty Immigration Levels Plan
On March 12, the Canadian government announced it would welcome
over a million new immigrants to the country between 2020 and 2022.
However, just a few days later Canada had to close its borders
and impose travel restrictions, as the entire world went into lockdown due to
COVID-19.
Despite the setback, on October 30 Canadian Immigration Minister
Marco Mendicino announced that Canada
will welcome over 1.2 million new immigrants as permanent residents to the
country over the next three years, up to 2023, with around 400,00 people being
allowed to enter Canada for each of the next three years.

New Zealand Immigration
Immigration NZ to continue maintaining border restrictions
New Zealand’s Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi has said that the
government will continue to maintain current border restrictions until the
situation during the pandemic reaches a safe level.
These comments come in the wake of protests held in India,
organised by work visa holders urging the NZ government to allow them to return
to their lives in the country.
Because of the outbreak of Covid-19, thousands of temporary visa
holders to New Zealand are stranded overseas, unable to return while having to
pay rent and incur other expenses in the country.
