Regional Australia inviting 45,000 skilled immigrants
Regional Australia posted more than 45,000 job vacancies in
August 2020, and is crying out for skilled workers to migrate to
Australia.
The number of vacancies is already 14 per cent more than the
figures for July, and many of the vacancies are in the renewable energy
sector.
Recent research indicates vacancies could continue to grow until
2025, as confirmed by Regional Australia Institute (RAI) chief economist Kim
Houghton, who said job vacancies remain a thorn in the side of regional
Australia.

Economists urge govt to resume skilled migration to Australia
Economists have called on the Australian government to reopen
borders for skilled workers to resume Australian immigration and prevent the
economy from facing further setbacks after the pandemic.
One remedy to improving the economy could be creating new a
program to attract skilled migrants to Australia, which would boost the economy
and also bring the population growth up to speed, according to the
Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO).
Deloitte Access Economics partner Chris Richardson also
described skilled migrants as a “net upside†for the Australian government, as
they have repeatedly proven to add to the country’s national revenues.

New Brunswick to focus on increasing Canadian immigration
New Brunswick’s provincial government has committed to
increasing the number of immigrants moving to the Canadian province to help the
population and economy grow further.
New Brunswick is facing labour shortages, and Premier Blaine
Higgins said attracting international workers and students and encouraging them
to stay would drive up the province’s economy, and fill an estimated 120,000
job vacancies over the next ten years.
The Premier also said there were additional plans in place for
inviting investors to the Canadian province, as well as attracting companies in
the emerging sectors, including energy innovation and

CEDA: New skilled visa to Australia key to economic
recovery
Temporary skilled migration with a new skilled visa to Australia
will prove hugely beneficial to the country’s post-pandemic recovery,
Australia’s Committee for Economic Development (CEDA) has found.
According to results of a research conducted by CEDA, the
Australian government should facilitate the expansion of multinational
businesses in the country by introducing an “intra-company transfer†visa,
which would allow skilled foreign workers to help drive up Australia’s economy.
Jarrod Ball, chief economist of CEDA, called on the government
to ensure attracting the best and brightest from around the world and improving
the country’s skilled migration numbers once the travel restrictions are
lifted.
